How to choose dispersants for carbon black?
Carbon black dispersant, commonly referred to as carbon black dispersant, is a special additive used to solve the problem of easy agglomeration and difficult dispersion of
carbon black in coatings, inks and other systems. Its core function is to prevent the agglomeration of carbon black particles, ensure uniform and stable color.
The mechanism of action of dispersants in carbon black: dispersants adsorb on the surface of carbon black particles, generating charge repulsion or steric hindrance effects,
reducing the attraction between particles, and thus preventing particles from flocculation again.
The main effect of dispersants on carbon black:
1. Reduce viscosity: significantly reduce the system viscosity during the grinding process and improve production efficiency.
2. Improve stability: prevent pigment coagulation, settling, or coarsening during storage, maintain color intensity and hue stability.
3. Enhance coloring power: optimize pigment wetting, shorten dispersion time, improve blackness and glossiness.
The main types and characteristics of carbon black dispersants
1. Polymer based hyperdispersants: polyester modified, block polymer, polycarboxylate ester, styrene maleic anhydride copolymer; Good compatibility, strong adsorption force,
good steric hindrance, and strong stability; Suitable for inks, coatings, automotive paints, color pastes, and digital inkjet printing, HR-4035 and HR-4061C0 dispersants are recommended.
2. Water based systems: non-ionic or anionic dispersants, acrylic dispersants, polymer dispersants, styrene maleic anhydride copolymers; Good compatibility, good flocculation effect,
good anti settling, and strong stability; Suitable for water-based coatings, water-based inks, water-based color pastes, and inkjet inks; Recommend HR-4057 and 4058 dispersants.
